 STOCKTON, Kan. -

A weekend poaching incident could leave the owners of a northwest business nearly bankrupt.

It happened at TNT Whitetails, a deer-breeding farm outside Stockton, Saturday night. Tim Rigel, owner, said the poachers scaled an 8-foot fence, and cut off the deer's head. The buck cost him $50,000, and at least twice that in future breeding business.

"I have people looking," Rigel said, "we got taxidermists, horn buyers. We have people in New York contacting us, saying they're watching."

The company takes DNA samples of all its deer, Rigel said.

There is a reward for tips leading to an arrest and restitution, Rigel said. Anyone with information is asked to call 785-425-8000.
